An exercise in world-building and interactive narrative game development!
Join Joe Whitmore in this interactive and collaborative world building workshop!
Develop a new world through a process of naming points-of-interest, main characters, significant roads, public buildings and much more. Selected through the role of dice, these will then be drawn and visualised, then plotted onto our map.
The second part of this workshop will focus on storytelling where we’ll create an interactive game using Twine. Using the world that has been collectively created, participants will create a text-based game which will be playable online using Twine's simple-to-use text block programming workflow. This text game could be a branching narrative story, a dating app, or an escape room. More examples of the capabilities of Twine can be found on their website and published games can be found on Itch.io and are mostly free-to-play.
This is a beginner's workshop and no programming experience is required. Suitable for ages 16+.
Basic computer skills are required however and it is advised (but not essential) that you familiarise yourself with Twine beforehand.
