Christmas Cats in Clay!
Join artist and studio member Evie for a festive morning of crafting ceramic cats! Immortalise your own cat or create a new feline friend. Very much a relaxed, creative experience. Complimentary mince pies of course, and tea/coffee.
You'll learn some traditional handbuilding techniques, with a focus on rolling slabs, carving, and slip decoration, and have fun shaping and decorating your own ceramic cat. Each participant will create a set of cats that are perfect for displaying at home or gifting during the holidays.
Your finished creations will be ready for collection within three weeks, just in time for Christmas!
Ceramic Christmas Trees!
Join artist and studio member Maz for a festive winter workshop! Come along and learn how to make beautiful Christmas trees from clay — a perfect table centrepiece.
In this fun, hands-on session, you'll explore some traditional handbuilding techniques with a focus on slabs and a spiral cutting process. We’ll dive into slab rolling, with plenty of guidance to help you create something truly unique. You'll pick up useful tips and tricks to get started with clay right away.
Each participant will make a set of 2 trees, decorated with coloured slips.
Your finished pieces will be ready for collection within three weeks, in time for Christmas!

Introducing Process Jam—an exciting new project at the Merseyway Workshop! It’s a weekend of improvisational fun, blending music, art, and craft in a dynamic, free-flowing atmosphere. The studio will transform into a vibrant space of unexpected sounds, striking visuals, and unique creations—a true fusion jam experience!
Join us on Saturday, November 30th for an improvised performance - the culmination of two days of experimentation and collaboration betweeen various musicans, artists and makers.

Each participant will create a unique set of linked baubles—a beautiful, handcrafted piece to hang on your tree or display elsewhere.

Discover the traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi or “gold joinery” with artist Emily Thomas, and create/repair a beautiful ceramic piece to take home. You'll learn all about the art and replicate the ancient techniques with contemporary materials.
You will repair a small antique dish - these are unique objects and will vary depending on what can be sourced. A selection of ceramic pieces will be available to choose from on the day.

Did you know... More than 8 million pumpkins in the UK will head to the food waste this year, some left in a front porch to decompose for a while longer and really scare off your neighbours! (That's a whole lotta pumpkin pie!)

This interactive workshop welcomes creatives of all skill levels to explore the art of cyanotypes, an alternative photographic technique that creates striking blue-and-white prints.
We'll be using tools and materials from the workshop to create unique prints on aprons, which you can take home for more crafting!

Lamp Making Workshop!
In this workshop you design and make your very own lamp!
Using clay, you will sculpt and form the base into a desired shape, picking up some essential handbuilding tips along the way. The fixtures and fittings will be on hand to ensure everything goes together nicely.
We'll be using a variety of coloured slips and mark-making techniques to decorate the bases. Once bisque fired, each vase base will be dipped in clear glaze for the glossy finish!
All fixtures, cables and bulbs are supplied.
Hobbit Stools!
Learn how to make a simple 3 legged stool!
A fun evening of woodwork, with plenty of shavings, drills, hammers and eventually, sitting...
You will be guided through each stage of the process from choosing timber, trimming and shaving the stool legs, shaping the seat, and drilling holes before assembling your very own stool to take home!
All materials and fun provided!
Chippy Tea - Plate Making Workshop!
Who doesn't love a chippy tea? In this class you’ll be slab rolling and forming clay into a beautiful plate, perfect for fish and chips! Using a variety of methods such as slab, pinching and forming you'll create simple, or more unusual shapes that clay can produce.
You will each be able to make one large plate. Once the forms are built, you will be applying decorative slip. All the plates will then be left to dry, bisque fired, then dipped in a clear shiny glaze before final firing. Your finished pieces will be ready x3 weeks after the workshop date.
Ceramic Plant Labels!
A FUN, FREE and family friendly activity, suitable for children aged 7-11.
Have you seen all the plants growing in our garden?! Do you want to know the name of them all, how to grow them and what insects and bugs they attract?
In this workshop we will be hand building some ceramic name tags to identify all the plants in our garden. You will learn about the plants as we go and how they contribute to the biodiversity of our town centre!
Hola Ollas!
Come along to this social and informative workshop and make your own ollas! Ollas (pronounced “oy-yahs”) are bottle shaped unglazed terracotta pots that are buried in the ground with the neck exposed above the soil surface. Filled with water these help with sub-surface irrigation of plants.
Learn about this ancient irrigation method, thought to have been developed over 4000 years ago!
In this workshop we will demonstrate the working properties of ollas learn how to make your own out of simple garden centre/recycled household objects.
Taking inspiration from the garden, we will decorate and print on your new olla.

4 Week Throwing Non-Taught
*NOTE* These are non-taught sessions, however there will be a studio technician around to answer questions and lend a hand.
A series of sessions dedicated to potters that simply want more time on the wheel. Suited to those that have previously attended a throwing course and are comfortable working independantly.
All clay, glaze and kiln firings included. Maximum 12 pots per person.
The sessions will run from 10am - 12:30 on the following Saturday's; 6th April, 13th April, 20th April, 27th April.
4 Week Improvers Throwing Course
A new course designed for those with some prior experience on the potter's wheel!
Ideal for intermediate participants or those who have previously taken a pottery class and are eager to devlop their skills further. We will cover flat ware, lidded forms and centring larger amounts of clay. Build upon existing skills and an array of new techniques.
Prerequisites - Ability to comfortably centre and throw basic forms.
We have a small and intimate studio environment, so you will all have plenty of advice and tips from our pottery tutors.
The sessions will run from 6pm - 8pm on the following Wednesdays; 3rd April, 10th April, 17th April, 24th April.
