July 4 Week Throwing Course (Wednesdays)
A course aimed at those wanting to get to grips with the potters wheel!
Suitable for total beginners or those that have already attended a class and want to improve quickly.
We have a small and intimate studio environment, so you will all have plenty of advice and tips from our pottery tutors. Walk away with a set of glazed mugs and bowls!
The sessions will run from 6pm - 8pm on the following Wednesdays; 9th July, 16th July, 23rd July, 30th July.
Make a Ceramic Wall Sconce
Join Kate for an introduction to slab building with clay - just one of many handbuilding techniques that don't require a potter's wheel.
In this workshop we'll be making decorative and practical tealight sconces to hang on your wall.
We'll have a range of pre-cut paper templates to use or you can freestyle it and see where the clay takes you.
If you want to make your own template before the workshop, please ensure it's no bigger than 15cm high or 15cm wide.
No experience is needed and all materials are supplied. Your creations will be fired and ready to collect 3-4 weeks after the workshop.

This workshop is for anyone who is interested in learning the unique craft of Secret Belgian Bookbinding, which uses interesting pattern of weaving which laces the front and back covers to the spine. You'll be guided through the process, supported through every stage of making A5 hardcover book from start to finish by local book artist Anna Billany.
Choose from a selection of papers and bookcloth to make a notebook, diary, sketchbook or recipe book exactly how you want it. A wonderful opportunity to pick up a new skill and create something completely unique!

Join Fergus Byron in an interactive and educational workshop, exploring the identity of various wild clays through a fun, process-led approach...
Get to grips with a selection of wild clays and white stoneware clay. Enjoy the contrast between the materials and engage in its rich diversity.
Start handbuilding and rolling with the clays and enjoy the contrast between the materials and engage in its rich diversity.
As the outcome of the workshop, you will be encouraged to make a free form object that is simple, so to show off the quality of the materials.
All your works will be fired and ready to be collected four weeks after the event.
August 4 Week Improvers Throwing Course (Wednesdays)
Nailed the basics? Looking to throw bigger and better?
A new course designed for those with experience on the potter's wheel!
Ideal for intermediate participants or those who have previously taken a pottery class and are eager to devlop their skills further. We will have you centering larger amounts of clay, throwing flat ware and larger lidded forms. Build upon existing skills and an array of new techniques.
Prerequisites - Must be comfortabe centering and throwing basic forms. If you are uncertain about your ability levels, either pop in or call for a discussion.
The sessions will run from 6pm - 8pm on the following Wednesdays; 6th August, 13th August, 20th August, 27th August.
Make a Book!
This workshop is for anyone who'd like to have a go at a contemporary creative bookbinding technique to make a flag book. You'll be guided through the process, supported through every stage of making by local book artist Anna Billany. At the end of the session, you will take away your own handmade flag books plus the skills to make more at home.
A wonderful opportunity to pick up a new skill and create something completely unique!

Design & Process, 4 Week Ceramics Course
This is an explorative four week project ran by artists Maisie Pritchard & Arvinda Gray. Each week will focus on an alternative approach to working with clay which the artists have developed as part of their own practice.
The project is all about design and process - artist demonstrations and specialist guidance will equip participants with inspiration and practical knowledge, encouraging you to develop your own ideas and outcomes rather than following a script.
This course is offered at a lower price point to encourage freedom of exploration and development. If you make anything which you’d like to keep, there will be an additional charge to cover materials and firing costs, generally from £2.50-£10 per item depending on its size.
Saturdays in September, 3PM-5PM.

Family Clay!
Family Clay is a unique opportunity for kids and their adults to spend quality time together while getting creative & learning something new.
One ticket entitles one person to one ball of clay and all the materials & guidance needed to turn it into a masterpiece!
Once you're done, your creations will be fired in our kiln and will be ready to collect 4 weeks after the workshop.
Accompanying adults are not obliged to buy a ticket for themselves, but you are asked to stay with your child(ren) for the duration of the activity.
Upcycling Clothes: DIY Sunprinting Workshop
Join us for a morning of cyanotype printing at Merseyway Workshop where art meets science in the magical process of sun printing! This hands-on workshop invites creatives of all levels to discover the process of cyanotypes, an alternative photographic method that creates vibrant blue-and-white print. Thrift and print - browse a selection of second-hand clothes and make them your own using the cyanotype printing process.

Ceramic Cookware
Come along and get stuck it making ceramic cookware (think casserole pots, tagines, chicken bricks...). Sample a dish made in house while you get creative. No experience needed, just come along and experiment with clay!
Your creations will be fired and ready to collect 3-4 weeks after the workshop..

Pair of Candlesticks!
Join us for an experimental afternoon of design, woodwork and ceramics in this extruded candlestick-making workshop.
You’ll be involved in the process at every stage - designing and creating a die (stencil) from wood, squeeeeeezing clay through the extruder, building gorgeous objects from the extruded clay and slapping on some colour.
You’ll end the session having made a funky pair of candlesticks to take home once we’ve dried, fired and glazed them!

Half term activity - paint a clay frog! Multiple time slots available.
One ticket entitles one small person to one small clay frog and all the materials needed to paint it!
Once you're done, froggies will be fired in our kiln and will be ready to collect 2-3 weeks after the workshop.
Accompanying adults do not need to buy a ticket, but are asked to stay for the duration of the activity. Feel free to purchase a second ticket if accompanying adult would like to paint a froggy of their own!

Make a Frame! with Gus Workshop
Join Angus for an afternoon of frame-making. In this workshop you will be presented with a mismatch of gorgeous timber off cuts and odd ends to peruse, curate and assemble into a one-of-a-kind picture frame to take home. Your finished frame will be A5 in size, and complete with glazing and metal fittings for hanging.
No woodwork experience needed, you will be supported as you explore basic woodworking techniques and experiment with composition. Recommended for age 16+
Feel free to bring along a postcard or A5 print to frame on the day!
Process Jam Exhibition Launch!
You're all invited to join us on Thursday 13th March for the launch of the Process Jam exhibition. Swing by anytime from 17:30 to celebrate improvisational art and sounds.
Check out the work that was made over the two days of experimentation and collaboration betweeen the Process Jam participants!
We'll be showing the project film, artworks and sounds.

Candle Making!
Brighten up your winter afternoons with our relaxed and creative candle-making workshop!
Join us as we transform a stash of leftover ceramics into beautiful, hand-poured candles. You'll get to choose from a variety of unique small ceramic vessels, fill them with luxurious soy wax, and customise them with scents of your choice. We'll guide you through every step, from positioning the wick to pouring the wax, ensuring your candles are functional and beautiful.
Noisy Toys !
Join us for a free, family-friendly workshop where you can create your very own unique instrument—or a wonderfully noisy toy! Using a wide range of recycled materials and everyday household items, craft something special like tin can bongos, rainsticks, or wooden whackers.

Christmas Cats in Clay!
Join artist and studio member Evie for a festive morning of crafting ceramic cats! Immortalise your own cat or create a new feline friend. Very much a relaxed, creative experience. Complimentary mince pies of course, and tea/coffee.
You'll learn some traditional handbuilding techniques, with a focus on rolling slabs, carving, and slip decoration, and have fun shaping and decorating your own ceramic cat. Each participant will create a set of cats that are perfect for displaying at home or gifting during the holidays.
Your finished creations will be ready for collection within three weeks, just in time for Christmas!
