Join us in this fun pottery workshop and learn all about the ancient technique of sgraffito!
During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to decorate a pre hand-thrown bowl with our in-house potter. Get to grips with a variety of coloured slips and oxides before carving your own design into the damp clay. After they’ve been fired your work with be over-glazed in a clear finish ensuring your bowl is food safe. Work will be ready for collection one month from the date of your session.
Sgraffito is a decorating pottery technique produced by applying layers of coloured slips to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images, patterns and texture and reveal the clay colour underneath.
